"For the past thirty-eight years, I have been living on Orcas Island with my husband, in our sanctuary, finding my voice through the act of making paper. I never title a work until I sit with the finished piece, then somehow, it comes. The title reveals itself, reflecting what I needed to know or learn. This has been especially true with this body of work.
Fragmented came two years ago when my husband of nearly four decades learned his medical condition was bringing him to the end of his life.
On the Edge of the Wind marked the beginning of healing, a tender coming together after the storm.
Into the Wind was about pushing through the hardest moments.
Moment of Clarity when I recognized the healing within myself.
Simply Open spoke to the understanding of what was needed, to not resist but to allow.
Growing Journey reflected the realization that through love we could find our way through this process together, that connecting energy never dies.
Holding a Space is my role, to be there and be love.
Two Volumes is us, two souls who keep coming together, loving each other even as death prepares to separate us in the physical world.
Dream Time remembers our sailing days, our dream time, when dolphins danced at the bow of our boat and we played together in the wind and waves.
The work in this exhibition is truly a life’s work, each page, each shadow, each glimmer in his eye, poured into paper, presence, and love. Through Love, we have found our way through this process together."
