Winston Wächter Fine Art is pleased to announce a new solo exhibition of paintings by Seattle based artist Susan Dory. Spontaneous Sights continues Dory’s exploration of relational color into mazelike compositions that visualize a harmonious interconnectedness of all things. Her geometric abstractions register as vibrant networks— the self-organized movements of birds at dawn, the invisible pathways connecting trees and fungi under our every step. Dory examines the oft-neglected, unseen relationships and support systems that help govern our lives, seeing metaphors in patterns, and attempting to make the invisible visible.
“I map out contrasting colors as granular, integral specks of a greater whole. The vivid, patchwork quality to the overall palette mirrors the intricately woven relationships that make up our inner lives.” — Susan Dory
Susan Dory’s work has been collected and exhibited nationally in public and corporate institutions including the Tacoma Art Museum, the Art in Embassies Program, Microsoft, Nordstrom and the City of Seattle Arts Collection. Dory has received both national and local awards including the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, the Willard R. Espy Foundation Artist-in-Residence Fellowship and the Behnke Foundation’s Neddy Artist Fellowship.
