Winston Wächter Fine Art Seattle is excited to announce our second solo exhibition with California based painter Sara Genn. The modular paintings in Infinite Promise expand on Genn’s established systems of visual organization and color theory through free-hand compositions that explore local color to its logical endpoint. Focusing on the dense materiality of painting and the acute spatial changes of light, shadow, and mood, Genn foregrounds the absolute elemental aspects of seeing— the act of self-consciously looking at something. Canvasses composed of single hues radiate what Genn describes as ‘anti-chaos’, an aesthetic invitation to find refuge and solace in uncomplicated yet technical gestures and nearly invisible brushstrokes. In Infinite Promise, Genn’s hyper-specific visual language further mesmerizes in its limitless combinations and encounters of undiluted shapes and colors.

“The eye wants to organize and also travel within spaces and within artworks. In this sense, and in the broader exploration of color and its relationship to itself and its environmental conditions, I invite visitors to consider an infinity of feelings” — Sara Genn

Genn’s paintings have been featured in The Toronto Arts Council, Canadian House and Home, NYLON Japan, Town and Country, W, Domino, American Art Collector, New York Magazine, LONY, and Tatler, as well as in the Rizzoli publication New York Parties; Private Views and for the Faberge Big Egg Hunt. Sara Genn is also a composer and independent recording artist, certified Gold in France and publishes a twice-weekly letter on art that carries over fifty thousand direct subscribers.
