Deb Achak

Deb Achak’s photography explores the color, texture and poetry of the ocean. Through her photography, Achak has the power to capture the essence of the human connection to water. While swimming with her camera, Achak looks for the interplay between her lens and the water’s movement, endeavoring to capture that single moment where her camera, intuition, and the natural world are perfectly aligned. At times she seeks out human subjects, exploring her fascination with beach culture, a subject matter that is deeply rooted in her memories of childhood. With clean, uncomplicated compositions Achak evokes the power and mystery of water, and invites the viewer to experience their own emotions and memories of the sea.

Raised in New Hampshire, Deb Achak holds a master’s degree in social work and is a self-trained photographer and filmmaker.  She lives in Seattle, WA with her husband and sons in a grand old home that was once a bed and breakfast.
